January Newsletter

The livery can only be chosen as a prize by an existing livery.

Prizes can be transferred but not resold – e.g. a grandparent can buy on behalf of a rider, or someone can buy a ticket to help the fundraiser then award it to a rider who would benefit from it if they want to do that instead of using it themselves.

Those receiving the riding prize need to be under our weight limit and book in through reception as normal (although the private lesson winner will be guaranteed a weekly space).

We reserve the right to cancel the raffle and refund the cost of tickets bought if we do not sell enough to make it a worthwhile fundraiser.

The mechanical horse would be such a huge asset to everyone that rides at ARC as it can improve position/balance/weight distribution on any standard of rider from beginner to advanced and once purchased, our members will be able to book a private lesson on it whenever they want. So please, dig deep and buy a raffle ticket – you might just be the winner, but also it means that you are donating to something that will give a lot of fun to a lot of local riders and also giving a little something to the legacy of our beloved Murphy.

CHALLENGE AWARDS

We will be restarting the Challenge awards on Saturday 25th January for adults at 8.15a.m on a Saturday and on Monday 27th January at 4.30p.m for the Junior participants. We originally were going to start them earlier in January, but leaving it till later in the month allows us to cover for Liam being off having injured himself for a couple of weeks! If you haven’t yet registered for the Challenge awards, have a look on the BHS website at what they offer:

https://pathways.bhs.org.uk/challenge-awards/

You can join in the Challenge awards at any point – they are all stable management based (we check off the riding ones in your lessons) and are a great way to further your equine knowledge! If you would like to take part, you need to join the BHS (you can do this online) and then let Ali in reception know your BHS membership number when you book into the sessions which cost £15 each. Why not learn something new in 2020!

WELCOME SQUIRREL!

We say a warm welcome this month to Squirrel, who is joining us as a working livery. We have known Squirrel for a few years now as he belonged to a local family, so he will be doing beginner/novice standard children’s lessons. This means we have now “stocked up” considerably with new riding school ponies – we have bought Ozzy, Gizmo and Brewster, all of whom are really experienced educated ponies and now will also be using Squirrel on certain days of the week – lucky children getting to ride these fab ponies!

THANK YOU!

A big thank you to all our members who put in gifts under the tree for our horses and ponies (and chocolates and wine for the staff!) The horses and ponies loved getting their treats on Xmas Day and we have put boxes of treats beside the indoor school so that riders can give them a treat after their lesson if they want so help yourselves!
