September Newsletter

Hi Everyone! We thought we’d put a nice pic of Mr T on the newsletter this month – he’s one of our new purchases and is already proving really popular in lessons with our adults and career pathway sessions. It’s been a busy old time at ARC – between trying to return to some kind of normal, navigating through local lockdown and doing quite a few more BHS assessments for those who want them we’ve all been keeping very busy! Lots of exciting news for our riders this month so read on to find out what we have planned for September!

RIDING OUT SAFELY

Many of you will have heard of the BHS Challenge awards, which we have been offering for the last year. The Challenge awards are designed  for recreational riders – both those who own their own horse and those who ride at centres like ours. Later in September, we are going to be offering the “Ride Out Safely” section of the Challenge awards – both the Bronze and then Silver award. The Ride out Safely award is brilliant for anyone who rides – it teaches you what equipment you need and how to ride out safely on the roads and hacking. For those who are looking to do Career Pathway qualifications, the Silver Ride Out award is a prerequisite for doing your BHS Stage 2 (it has taken the place of the Ridesafe qualification for Covid reasons). Martin is going to be running

these sessions weekly on a Monday at 5.30p.m starting on 14th September. If you would like to take part, you can either attend every session in person, or you can attend the initial one through Starleaf. These sessions are suitable for anyone over the age of 11 years, who can walk/trot/canter. Sessions are £15 for the hour and you can book through reception by contacting Ali. Participants need to be BHS members to do it, but it is easy to join the BHS online and pay monthly at low cost – means you are also supporting a great charity!

OCTOBER STABLE MANAGEMENT

We are going to run the October stable management in the shortened format – our plan is to return (next year) to the longer format from 9a.m – 2p.m but for October, we still feel it is better to offer a shorter more intense session without the kids having lunch e.t.c. on site.

The following courses/dates are available:

Beginner Stable Management: Mon 12th October – Thurs 15th October 10a.m–1p.m

Novice Stable Management: Mon 19th October – Thurs 22nd October 10a.m–1p.m

We will have 6 spaces on each course and the session will consist of one-hour stable management training, one-hour practice and one hours riding lesson. You book your pony of choice as normal. Prices are:

£50 per day (if doing certain days as opposed to all four)

£160 for full four days

The beginner course is suitable for children 5 years upwards, from beginner standard to learning to canter and is ideal for those who have done from no stable management to a little bit and are still a bit small to tack up on their own.

The novice course is suitable for children from 8 years upwards, who are secure in canter without holding the saddle and are confident and capable grooming/tacking up on their own with supervision. Bookings for the stable management will open at 10.00a.m on Monday 7th September.
